Snowboard

I love snowboarding in winter and I’m working on clean turns, balance, and spin basics.

Goal: build strong fundamentals and start frontside/backside 360 safely.

Beginner Learning Tips

  • Warm up first: ankle, hips, and shoulders for 5–10 minutes.
  • Stay athletic: knees bent, chest up, and eyes looking where you want to go.
  • Practice edge control: do smooth heel-side and toe-side traverses before speed.
  • Keep weight centered over the board; avoid leaning too far back.
  • Progress slowly: flat ground → small rollers → tiny jumps.
  • Wear safety gear: helmet (always), and impact shorts/wrist guards if possible.

Frontside 360 Tips

  • Start with frontside 180s both regular and switch before trying 360.
  • Use a small jump and moderate speed so you can focus on clean spin mechanics.
  • Wind up lightly with shoulders and unwind as you pop.
  • Keep the board level in the air and spot landing early after 270°.
  • Land soft with knees bent and ride away balanced.

Backside 360 Tips

  • Build from backside 180s and backside 3 attempts on side hits first.
  • Stay stacked over your board at takeoff; don’t throw shoulders too early.
  • Pop first, then rotate—jump quality matters more than spin force.
  • Use your head and eyes to lead rotation and find landing sooner.
  • If under-rotating, improve pop and commitment rather than adding too much speed.

Safety note: practice new tricks in terrain parks with adult coaching and start with the smallest safe features.
